Kristen Stewart recently confessed that she was so nervous to portray the late Princess Diana on screen that her jaw ‘completely locked up’ prior to shooting.

But the Spencer actress, 31, looked confident as she embarked on an errand run in Los Angeles with her girlfriend Dylan Meyer on Wednesday.

Stewart cut a casual cool figure in a pair of white high-waisted shorts and a matching cropped T-shirt.

She completed her ensemble with some striped white socks and a pair of black sneakers.

The Twilight star’s bleached hair was tied up into a messy ponytail and she rocked a pair of brown tinted shades.

With the COVID-19 pandemic still in full swing, Kristen made sure to wear a face mask during her and Dylan’s afternoon outing.

Dylan, a working screenwriter, trailed behind her girlfriend in an all-black getup and a pair of Adidas trainers.

The couple have been dating since 2019.

Kristen is fresh off a whirlwind press circuit for her soon-to-be released feature film Spencer, which follows Princess Diana (played by Kristen) ‘during her Christmas holidays with the royal family at the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, England, where she decides to leave her marriage to Prince Charles,’ as per IMDB.

Though it hits theaters on November 5, Spencer has since premiered at the BFI London Film Festival, as well as the 2021 Venice Film Festival in Italy.

In a recent interview with BBC News, the actress opened up about stepping into the late princess’ shoes and how director Pablo Larrain helped her overcome her nerves.

‘I couldn’t open my mouth for two weeks before we started shooting,’ she revealed to the outlet, explaining that she ‘had TMJ [her jaw stayed shut] to the point where I was like, completely locked up.

‘I was like, “Huh, I guess I’m really nervous – I was really tripping out until we started.”‘

She said that Larrain told her to ‘relax and trust the process,’ as well as to ‘rely on her extensive preparation for the role.’

Stewart admitted to the outlet that she ‘didn’t have the most developed or defined relationship with the Royal Family in general’ before researching, adding that she ‘didn’t grow up following the sort of saga.’

She continued: ‘Obviously I do live on planet earth, and her impact was so immense and emotional, even for somebody who was seven when she passed away.’

But in order to accurately portray the late Princess of Wales, the Cake actress researched heavily, telling BBC News that she ‘read everything, I wanted every photo… watched all the interviews that I could get my hands on.

‘I watched The Crown, I watched every iteration of interpretation. I just tried to absorb her in an emotional and general way, and then trust the process, and expect her to show up.’

Speaking of the film’s story, Kristen described Spencer as ‘an imagining of what it might have felt like, over the course of this decision to leave the family.’

However, she stressed that the storyline is not a ‘betrayal’ of the princess but ‘a poetic interpretation of all things that we absolutely know.’

After receiving rave reviews for her performance, as well as Oscar buzz, Kristen gushed that it was ‘really cool’ and that she ‘never had that’ before.

‘We make movies to have the most open and large-scale conversations that we can have, as a culture and like a society. It’s nice to be just for a second a part of that – it’s fun.’

The first trailer for Spencer was released last month, with Kristen’s take on the late Royal’s accent heard for the first time.

Set in 1991 and set for release on November 5, the short clip saw the Hollywood star roaming the grounds of Sandringham Estate at Christmas time as her marriage to Prince Charles breaks down in the wake of divorce and infidelity rumors.

The film’s logline reads: ‘The marriage of Princess Diana and Prince Charles has long since grown cold. Though rumours of affairs and a divorce abound, peace is ordained for the Christmas festivities at the Queen’s Sandringham Estate.

‘There’s eating and drinking, shooting and hunting. Diana knows the game. But this year, things will be profoundly different. Spencer is an imagining of what might have happened during those few fateful days.’

The script, written by English screenwriter Steven Knight, who has also written Peaky Blinders, follows the moments when Diana – who passed away at the age of 36 from a car crash – realizes she needs to ‘veer from a path that puts her in-line to one day be Queen’.
