He may be young at heart, but Kyle Sandilands certainly showed his age on Thursday’s radio show.

The 50-year-old radio titan was left red-faced during an on-air discussion about technology on the Kyle And Jackie O Show, after he mistakenly referred to Firefox as a television streaming service.

During the segment, Kyle began bragging about the amount of steaming services he’s purchased, telling co-host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson: ‘I’ve got everything!’

‘I’ve got the Foxtel, I’ve got the Firefox, I’ve got…’ he began.

Firefox is not a streaming service, rather it is an open-source web browser that is used to access information via the internet.

KIIS FM newsreader Brooklyn Ross interrupted: ‘Did you say Firefox?’

    ‘What’s Firefox?’ Jackie asked.

‘That’s just like, an internet browser,’ Brooklyn replied, sending Jackie into hysterical laughter.

‘Maybe I’ve called it the wrong thing… you’re right,’ Kyle replied sheepishly.

‘Oh yeah, have a laugh you a**holes,’ Kyle sniggered.

It’s not the first time Kyle has suffered an on-air boomer moment.

In April, the broadcasting veteran admitted that he’d struggled to get his head around the concept of Sam Smith being non-binary.

Sam prefers the gender neutral pronouns ‘they’, ‘them’ and ‘theirs’, which Kyle found confusing because these words typically refer to groups of people, not individuals.

Jackie and Brooklyn tried to explain how ‘they’ can be singular when referring to a non-binary person.

‘I’m sick of this. Why do I have to do this?’ asked Kyle, to which Jackie replied: ‘That’s the way it is these days, hun.’

The shock jock then said he identified as a ’48-year-old black woman’ and expected to be treated as such.

He added: ‘I’ll be now allowed to use the N-word, because I identify as a black woman. Is that right? Is that how it works?’

Brooklyn, who is openly gay, suggested ‘you can just say his name’. Jackie promptly corrected him: ‘Their name, Brooklyn.’

Kyle, who was scheduled to interview Sam later that morning, became exasperated and said he could not understand the pronouns.

‘I’m not buying into the “their”. I can’t. It’s too much. “Their an absolute sweetie,” like there’s two of them,’ he said.

Jackie said that she remembers how to address Sam correctly by following a simple rule.’When you’re talking to him [sic], imagine you’re talking to The Veronicas. That’s how I do it,’ she said, referring to the Australian pop duo.
