Leeds given green light to revive failed summer £25.5m transfer bid as agent speaks out

Leeds United might be able to relaunch their transfer interest in Club Brugge winger Noa Lang next summer after being told that the player could move to a bigger club in 2022.

Lang was apparently a transfer target for Leeds, who wanted to sign a winger during the summer window.

The 22-year-old performed excellently for the Belgian side last term, on an initial loan deal from Ajax.

He scored 14 times and registered eight assists in the Belgian first division.

Lang’s agent has insisted that his client did not want to leave the club in the summer but he was priced out of a transfer regardless.

Lang’s agent, Bart Baving, has explained that his client was happy to remain at Club Brugge and added that the club’s asking price would have made a deal unfeasible anyway.

“Towards the end there was concrete interest from several competitions,” Baving told Het Laatste Nieuws

“As much as he likes to be at Club Brugge, you noticed he was getting more restless, which makes sense.

“You saw that clubs were economical. We also heard amounts above €25m (£21.3m) for Teun Koopmeiners. In the end, he went to Atalanta for €14m (£11.9m).

“With the amount Club Brugge had in mind for Noa, it had become difficult anyway. Add to that, Noa didn’t want to exchange this club for any team.”

Wales international James was one of two major additions to Marcelo Bielsa’s squad during the summer transfer window.

Leeds also signed Junior Firpo in a £13.5m deal from Barcelona. They also made Jack Harrison’s loan from Manchester City permanent for £11m.
