Lewis Hamilton shows off his signature sense of style in camouflage trousers and green boots at the F1 Grand Prix in São Paulo

Lewis Hamilton caught the eye at the Formula One Grand Prix of Brazil at Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace in São Paulo on Saturday.

The racing driver, 36, put his best fashion foot forward as he stepped out in a black raincoat which he teamed with a pair of army cargo pants.

But the most eye-catching part of his outfit was his bright green boots with chunky soles which added a pop of colour to his monotone outfit.

His dark brown braided locks had been tied into a tousled manbun and he completed his ensemble with a pair of marble-effect sunglasses.

Abiding by coronavirus rules, the Stevenage native added a black face mask to his outfit.

Lewis Hamilton’s world championship hopes rested with the stewards of the Sao Paulo Grand Prix – determining in the Interlagos paddock whether his Mercedes is legal.

He faces possible exclusion from the qualifying classification he headed on Friday that had seemed to breathe fresh life into his fading quest for a record-breaking eighth title.

His dream now hinges on the validity of his rear wing, and if the stewards rule against him, he will not start Saturday’s sprint race at the front but at the back.

Even if he clawed his way extensively through the field – and thus established his provisional place on the grid for the grand prix proper on Sunday – he would be further stymied by a five-place grid penalty for taking a new engine this weekend.

All this spells serious trouble, seeing as Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, who qualified second for the 24-lap sprint, is already 19 points clear with four rounds to go, including this one in Sao Paulo.

But Lewis’ wishes of winning a record eighth Formula One championship could be handed a lifeline after Max Verstappen was summoned by the stewards over a potential rule breach in parc ferme.

A video posted on Twitter showed the Dutchman inspecting the rear wing of Hamilton’s Mercedes on Friday, after the Briton had finished four tenths of a second ahead of him to secure pole position for today’s sprint race.

The FIA – motorsports’ governing body – confirmed Verstappen’s actions were being reviewed and that the Red Bull driver had been asked to attend an official hearing over an ‘alleged breach of Article 2.5.1 of the FIA International Sporting Code’.
