Liverpool have four players they can sell to help fund £34m Donyell Malen transfer

Liverpool are interested in signing Donyell Malen this summer from PSV Eindhoven. However, they wlll need to sell a number of players before bringing in the forward to bolster their funds.

PSV star Malen is high on Liverpool’s shortlist as they look to boost their attack.

With the African Cup of Nations set to go ahead next season, Jurgen Klopp’s frontline will lose two of its biggest names in Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

Diogo Jota will replace one but concerns have grown over his fitness after he made just 19 Premier League appearances last year.

While Roberto Firmino’s role does not bring the same amount of goals as his teammates to.

However, Liverpool will have to sell a handful of players to bring in the necessary funds to splash £34m out on Malen – so who could leave?

    Neco Williams

Trent Alexander-Arnold is firmly first-choice right-back ahead of the Wales international, who has told Liverpool he wants to leave.

Williams is desperate to land a more important role with another team and thus boost his international status.

Several Premier League outfits are interested, including Leeds United and Wolves, but Liverpool will only sell if their price is met – which stands at £10m.

    Marko Grujic

Despite being Klopp’s first signing at Liverpool, his career has failed to take off at Anfield and has been shunted around Europe on loan.

His latest saw him move to Porto, who are keen on bringing him back, but the Reds are interested in a permanent deal whereas the Portuguese side want another loan.

Whether an agreement can be reached remains to be seen with Liverpool asking for £15m.

But even if he leaves temporarily again, clauses that can boost the coffers on Merseyside can still be reached such as fees after a certain amount of appearances or an obligation to buy.

    Harry Wilson

Wilson’s stock has somewhat fallen since his bright spells at Derby and Bournemouth, where he was once valued at £25m.

Liverpool would do extremely well to get near that figure this summer following a decent, if unspectacular, stint at Cardiff City in the Championship.

The latest rumours have Benfica linked with the Wales international, whose free-kicks are a particular selling point.

But the Reds will likely have to drastically lower their asking price if they want to offload Wilson.

    Divock Origi

Another player whose value has plummeted, it was just two years ago when Liverpool demanded £25m for Origi’s services.

They will not get close to that amount now for a striker whose only goal last season came against Lincoln in the Carabao Cup.

Klopp has seemingly given up on the Belgian, who was left out of his country’s provisional 34-man squad this summer.

Though the fee will have to be lowered, another tactic could be used with the ex-Lille striker being used as part of the deal to bring Malen to Liverpool in a potential swap transfer.
