Nearly a decade after Sarah Paulson screamed, ‘Help! He’s escaping! The killer is escaping! Help me,’ in American Horror Story: Asylum, the line has turned into a viral TikTok sensation.
TikTok users have been lip-syncing to the line for months, with celebrities such as Billie Eilish getting in on the fun, but singer Lizzo has taken it to the next level.
The 33-year-old singer teamed up with the 46-year-old actress for two new TikTok video reenactments of the line, which have both gone viral.

The first video started out with just Lizzo, but then she pulled Paulson into the frame, as they both dramatically lip-synced to the audio, with the post captioned, ‘This one?’
The second video featured the same audio, but both ladies were quite subdued in the line delivery, with the post captioned, ‘Or this one?’
Both videos were posted on Monday afternoon, with the first garnering over 8.5 million views and the second with 10.1 million views in just seven hours.

The sound byte was first posted to TikTok on July 1 by an American Horror Story superfan named Abi (@horrorcovwn).
Since then it’s been used in over 379,000 TikTok videos, including one in early October from Billie Eilish, who is not a fan of this scene.
‘Hate that you guys made this sound huge on here. Most infuriating scene in all of asylum,’ Eilish said.

The original scene was from the second season of American Horror Story, where Paulson’s character Lana Winters thinks Evan Peters’ Kit is the killer, and screams the line to get people to come and help.
Paulson acknowledged the trend in an Instagram live video with her friend Leslie Grossman.
‘Lizzo did one, I think Billie Eilish. They don’t know it’s me, they just know… they just know that there’s some weird chick saying ‘the killer is escaping,’ Paulson said.

‘I was doing one of my screams that all the kids like to tell me how horrible they are,’ Paulson added.

Paulson currently stars on FX’s Impeachment: American Crime Story, as Linda Tripp.
