Paul’s previous fights came against KSI, the first of which ended as a draw. The pair met again after this and resulted in Paul losing the first fight of his career.
The American earned around $2million total from his first fight against KSI, but the re-match which was broadcast by boxing company DAZN USA is believed to have topped $3million.
Mayweather is the overwhelming favourite to come out on top tonight as the 50-0 undefeated icon prepares to take part in an unexpected bout.
But Paul is not concerned about the odds being stacked in the favour of his opponent as he made clear that he does not fear the 44-year-old.
“I kid you not. I said this on stage, the only thing I could think was ‘this is the guy?’ This is the larger than life, highest paid athlete in the world? The greatest boxer of our generation? He told the True Geordie podcast.
“I was looking down going ‘this is it?’ It was slightly underwhelming, not a let-down but for me exciting because I really thought that I’m going to do this.”
