Manchester United could replicate Barcelona swap deal to complete Cristiano Ronaldo move

“You would have essentially a Financial Fair Play swap, similar to what Juventus did with Barcelona last summer in taking Arthur Melo from Barcelona for a substantial initial fee and have Pjanic in that case move to Barcelona for an initial €60m.

“What that allowed Juventus, allowed both clubs to do because of the way transfer fees are amortised, is to book a positive economic effect as they called it for that year’s transactions.

“So there’s attractions there to both clubs in terms of a way you can manufacture a deal.”

Pogba spent four years at Juve between 2012 and 2016 before a then world-record return to United.
