Mark Wahlberg peels off his fat suit on the set of Father Stu in Malibu… after gaining 20lbs to play a boxer-turned-priest in the drama
Mark Wahlberg may be known for his regimented fitness routine but for his latest role he has bulked up.
But even with his added 20lbs, he still needs a fat suit to play a boxer-turned-priest Reverend Stuart Long in the biopic Father Stu.
On Tuesday the 49-year-old Hollywood mainstay was seen peeling off his fat suit on the film set in Malibu.
Peeling back layers: Mark Wahlberg, 49, is glimpsed peeling off his fat suit on the set of Father Stu — a movie about a boxer-turned-priest for which he has gained an additional 20 pounds

The usually buff Patriot’s Day actor looked virtually unrecognizable as he stripped back a white T-shirt to reveal the expertly disguised fat suit which spanned his torso.
And while on set he debuted a recent buzz cut while in a pair of black pants with black sneakers.
After peeling back his added layers he looked back to his muscular form, despite putting on additional weight for the drama about the life of a one-time boxer/actor who later became a priest.
Having already put on 20 pounds it was revealed intends to gain about 10 more which has been aided by aiming to eat 7,000 calories a day.
Mark first revealed his dramatic transformation via social media on May 3, sharing a before and after shot.

Making gains: ‘We try to hit 7,000 calories a day, but it’s not easy for anyone to take in that much food even though we’re breaking it up into smaller meals,’ his personal chef Duran told E! News
In the post he shouted out his chef Lawrence Duran who has been making upwards of eight meals a day for the actor, which includes lots of protein shakes, and at least a dozen eggs daily.
‘We try to hit 7,000 calories a day, but it’s not easy for anyone to take in that much food even though we’re breaking it up into smaller meals,’ Duran told E! News.
Duran continued to share that Mark has been eating ‘every three hours,’ and still wakes up around 2:30AM to get in a ‘pre-breakfast’ before his first 3AM workout of the day.
Telling his tale: Mark started working on the biopic about Father Long — a priest of the Diocese of Helena in Montana — two years before he passed away at the age of 50 in 2014
His diet largely consists of food that allows for ‘mass weight-gain’ which includes things like ‘good carbohydrates, dark green vegetables, veal chops, pork chops, steak, fish and grains every three hours,’ in addition to a ‘mash’ right before bedtime to help him gain weight as he sleeps.
Also present on set was Gibson, 65, who was tapped to play the role of Reverend Long’s father. The Passion Of The Christ star was seen in a navy button down and black slacks with a maroon tie, while filming near a religious-looking center.
And though the project is finally in production, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Wahlberg has been trying to tell the story of the embattled priest for at least six years.

The biopic is set to follow Stuart’s life which is marked by many setbacks. As an angry teen at a Catholic college he turns to boxing for a release, but when a career fails to pan out he tries his hand at acting in Hollywood.
While in the midst of trying to make it, he suffers a series of gruesome accidents which land him in the hospital where he rediscovers his faith. And at that point his life takes another dramatic turn after he is diagnosed with a rare degenerative muscle disease.
