‘I just need to go home. It’s my mental health,’ Brent said, sitting across from Jock.

Brent spoke about the pressure and stress of the competition: ‘I just can’t get out of my head. It’s just affecting my cook. My sleep,’ he said.

‘I don’t want to but I think it’s the only thing – it’s the right thing,’ he added.

Brent said he had spoken to his wife who was ‘100 per cent supportive’ of him leaving the show to protect his mental health.

Jock himself started to choke back tears with him telling Brent he has truly shown his ability throughout the cooking challenges.

‘If you make this choice, I mean, there’s no going back, there’s no coming back next week… If you pull the parachute, you’ve pulled the parachute,’ Jock said.

‘Yeah, I know,’ Brent replied. ‘I just have nothing left.’

Jock made the announcement to the group that Brent wouldn’t be continuing in the competition with the judges and fellow contestants clearly upset.

‘Brent, you might not realise how much right now you’ve brought to the competition. But we really do and we’re so going to miss you,’ Melissa said.

‘You guys are just amazing cooks. You know, just keep trucking. You guys, like, I just… I admire you so much,’ he said.
