The Duchess of Sussex’s book, called The Bench, will be released on Tuesday and fans can expect to find a special hand-written note in it. The inscription, which is a tribute to the Duke of Sussex and Archie, reads: “For the man and the boy who make my heart go pump-pump.”
The Duchess announced she was to debut as an author on May 4, in a statement shared on the Archewell Foundation website.
She explained that the idea for the book came from a poem she wrote for Harry on his first Father’s Day.
The former Suits actress added that the book will focus on the relationship between father and son as seen through the eyes of a mother.
She said: “The Bench started as a poem I wrote for my husband on Father’s Day, the month after Archie was born.
“That poem became this story. Christian layered in beautiful and ethereal watercolour illustrations that capture the warmth, joy, and comfort of the relationship between fathers and sons from all walks of life; this representation was particularly important to me, and Christian and I worked closely to depict this special bond through an inclusive lens.
“My hope is that The Bench resonates with every family, no matter the makeup, as much as it does with mine.”
A sneak peek of the book seen online shows an illustration of a man with ginger hair walking alongside a toddler.
The Bench is being published by Random House Children’s Books and was illustrated by award-winning artist Christian Robinson.
