Can’t access Messenger on your iPhone or Android? It’s not just you – millions of Facebook fans worldwide are struggling to login and send messages with the app. Messenger is one of the most popular messaging platforms on the planet, with more than one billion users. However, users cannot access the immensely popular service due to an ongoing outage, which has impacted all Facebook-owned properties, including WhatsApp, photo-sharing social network Instagram, and Facebook Gaming, to name a few.

WhatsApp is the most popular messaging app ever built, with more than two billion users worldwide. However, Facebook’s Messenger app is a close second. The outage, which has been acknowledged by parent company Facebook, started at roughly 4.50pm BST. Facebook hasn’t explained what caused the worldwide outage, or when users can expect to be able to access Messenger again.
