    Mike Richards FIRED as executive producer of Jeopardy! and Wheel Of Fortune following fan backlash and resurfaced sexual harassment lawsuits

    • Sony told staff in a memo on Tuesday that Richards, 46, had been let go
    • Firing comes after the exec producer was ousted as host on Jeopardy! following fan backlash and past sexual harassment lawsuits 
    • EVP Suzanne Prete said that Sony hoped Richards stepping down as host would have ‘minimized the disruption and internal difficulties’
    • She added: ‘That clearly has not happened’ 


    Mike Richards has been fired as executive producer of Jeopardy! just a week after he stepped down as host of the quiz show following a storm of controversy. 

    Deadline reports that Sony Pictures Television informed staff in a memo on Tuesday, revealing that the 46-year-old has also been let go from Wheel Of Fortune as executive producer.

    EVP Suzanne Prete sent the following in an email: ‘I’m writing to let you know that Mike will no longer be serving as EP of Wheel and Jeopardy! effective immediately.’

    ‘We had hoped that when Mike stepped down from the host position at Jeopardy! it would have minimized the disruption and internal difficulties we have all experienced these last few weeks. That clearly has not happened.’ 

    Embassy Row’s Michael Davies has agreed to step in on an interim basis. 

    The axing comes after a huge backlash from fans of the show, many of whom had wanted favourite LeVar Burton to take the reins. 

    Richards was also forced to address recently resurfaced sexual harassment and discrimination lawsuits from his time at The Price Is Right.
