While many said they were going to buy the Easter treat others branded it ‘disgusting’ and ‘an odd combination’.

‘OMG!!! This is wrong on every level,’ wrote one fan.

‘Not sure about this which is odd as I love pizza and I love chocolate but …not sure about the two together,’ added another.

Also on the market is popular Cheeseter egg – a solid egg made of cheese, while Petrossian has launched a caviar egg for £230 for those planning on splashing out.

Elsewhere, PG Tips announced its first foray into the world of Easter confectionery in the form of a limited-edition chocolate teapot.
