‘It’ll be so wonderful so see them nervous all over again. We will be trying our best to stick to the script, but honestly a script is just a guideline. Ha ha ha!! Bring it on!’

Charlotte Moore, BBC’s Chief Content Officer added: ‘I’m thrilled that we are marking the 10th anniversary of the award-winning Mrs Brown’s Boys coming to BBC One with this very special live broadcast.’

‘A huge thank you to Brendan and the team for keeping us all so brilliantly entertained for a decade.

‘I can’t wait to see what mischief Agnes and family have in store for us this Halloween.’

A TV insider added to The Sun: ‘Mrs Brown’s Boys has done Christmas, now it’s time to give Halloween a special treatment. It’s a great way to give the sitcom a fresh dose of material and fans will be in for a real treat.

‘The show’s wardrobe team are going to have a field day, especially when they come to decide what outfits Agnes will wear.’

The Irish-British sitcom was first broadcast on BBC One in 2011 and aired live for the first time in 2016.

The show has received a number of awards including the 2012 BAFTA Television Award for Best Situation Comedy and Best Comedy at the TV Choice Awards the same year.

Brenden was nominated for the BAFTA for Best Male Performance in a Comedy Programme in 2012 but lost out to Darren Boyd for his role in the Sky comedy series Spy.

It was announced last year that Brendan had signed a deal to make a Christmas special of the show annually until 2026.

The star told The Irish Sun at the time: ‘It’s incredible that the BBC have nailed down such a special slot for Mrs Brown.

‘We’ve been doing it for nine years already — which is six more than the Royle Family had and more than Morecambe and Wise.

‘This new deal we signed last week goes all the way to 2026, which means I will be able to grow into the part, and we’ve a clause in which guarantees Mrs Brown is aired at 10pm on Christmas night, or else we don’t have to make it.

‘I wanted that because if it’s not good enough for Christmas Day, then we shouldn’t be making it.’
