    “Next to it was an unexploded Second World War bomb and in no time at all the police summoned the bomb squad down from Catterick Garrison and they took it away.” 

    She continued: “After the house was cleared and the estate was settled, I was able to keep the birdcage and the bird still tweets.”

    She demonstrated how the bird chirped and moved its head and tail when she wound a key in the cage. 

    “It’s beautiful, isn’t it?” Wayne said as he listened to the bird before he explained the history of the item.
