In a series of posts on Instagram Stories on Sunday, the 32-year-old former rugby league WAG shared some of the heartfelt messages she’d received from fans.

‘I want to challenge some very powerful people to look at their own behaviour, to look at the way they handled the situation, the role they played in all of this,’ she told the newspaper.

She added that ‘silence’ only enables cover-ups and bad behaviour.

Phoebe and Sam, 32, married in 2015, before splitting in October 2019 amid reports of infidelity and allegations of his wild partying.

‘This woman has so much courage and strength to speak up and share her story,’ commented another, while one fan praised her ‘grace, dignity, bravery and humility’.

Added another: ‘This resonates so deeply… Thank you for being so courageous for so many women, and for those of us who have been threatened or discarded by high profile humans and their webs of enablers that fiercely protect them in order for the “show to go on”.’

In a separate post on Instagram on Sunday, Phoebe said she’d spent ‘all night reading thousands of your messages in my inbox’ after the article came out.

‘Thank you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to all the brave souls who I can feel are in this with me,’ she wrote.

‘I can now guarantee you that my story is not isolated. It’s not even that rare. It is common. Common in the NRL, common in Australian sport, common in households and more often than not, there has been some attempt to cover it up.

‘I understand the blinding fear that comes with: sharing, telling, speaking, standing up… I believe these issues are everywhere. Let’s start the change. #TimeForChange’.
