    Ollie Wines gets a FaceTime call from diehard Port Adelaide fan David ‘Kochie’ Koch immediately after winning the Brownlow Medal


    Ollie Wines won the Brownlow Medal on Sunday night and he immediately got a call from his biggest fan. 

    Diehard Port Adelaide supporter and Sunrise host David ‘Kochie’ Koch FaceTimed Ollie while he was on the red carpet getting his photo taken and doing media interviews while wearing his medal. 

    In a video shared to Twitter by the official AFL page, despite being in the middle of his moment of celebration, the 26-year-old picked up the phone to the 65-year-old, with cheers erupting from the phone.

    ‘Kochie, you’re on camera with Channel Seven,’ Ollie said when answering. 

    ‘I can not believe it. You spoke so well. We are incredibly proud of you!’ Kochie replied excitedly. 

    ‘The first Port Adelaide Brownlow Medallist. Bloody hell,’ he added, before telling Ollie he’s spoken to his mother.

    ‘So proud of you!’ Kochie said, with Ollie saying upon hanging up, ‘He was ok with it then’. 

    The Port Adelaide star had won the most competitive Brownlow medal in history, taking home the prize on Sunday night at the Perth ceremony. 

    He was congratulated by his gorgeous partner, Olivia May, who gave him a kiss when the announcement was made.

    The footballer had claimed his first medal with a staggering 36 votes ahead of Western Bulldogs captain Marcus Bontempelli.

    In the highest scoring top 5 in the award’s history, Wines stormed home to win his first medal just ahead of Bontempelli, Clayton Oliver and Sam Walsh.

    He becomes the first-ever Port Adelaide player to win the Brownlow medal.
