Andrew Brettler, who is representing the Duke in the US, wants the agreement which Virginia Giuffre signed with the paedophile billionaire to remain sealed. The request was made in court papers to US District Judge Lewis A. Kaplan, it has emerged.
He is presiding over Ms Giuffre’s ongoing civil action against the Duke of York in which she is seeking undisclosed damages.
The 38-year-old claims she had sex with the Duke three times in 2001 when she was 17 and a minor under US law.
Andrew, 61, denies all the allegations and told a BBC Newsnight interview in 2019 that he had “no recollection” of ever meeting her.
On Monday the judge ruled that must be questioned under oath by Ms Giuffre’s lawyers in her civil sexual assault case by mid-July next year.

To do this Mr Brettler has requested to redact any portions of his arguments that reveal information in the agreement.
Mr Brettler said neither the prince nor Ms Giuffre contend that the release agreement must remain sealed.
However they wanted to ask that it stay secret because it is subject to a protective order from another judge presiding over a federal civil action in New York.
Epstein, who Ms Giuffre accused of grooming and trafficking her when she was a teenager, was found dead in his prison cell in 2019 while awaiting trial on a string of sexaul charges.
His death has since been ruled a suicide.
A pre-trial hearing related to the lawsuit is scheduled for next week.
