Princess Maria Anunciata of Liechtenstein marries Emanuele in 'Diana inspired' dress

On Saturday, wedding bells rang through the streets of Vienna as Princess Maria Anunciata of Liechtenstein married Emanuele Musini. The ceremony was held in a 12th-century parish church and boasted mesmerising High Baroque interior. Princess Maria Anunciata, 36, the daughter of Princess Margaretha of Luxembourg and Prince Nikolaus of Liechtenstein, wore a Valentino satin gown for the occasion which some suggested was similar to that of Diana, Princess of Wales’ wedding dress.

The royal heir and Emanuele, who is an investor in the pharmaceutical sector and comes from a family of entrepreneurs based in Gubbio, Umbria, a small region in the centre of Italy, originally wed at a small civil ceremony on June, 26 at Villa della Tenuta Diffasia near Gubbio.

Over the weekend, the couple tied the knot again with a religious ceremony that took place in Vienna’s Schottenkirche (in English, Scots’ Church).

The reception was held in Stadtpalais Liechtenstein, one of the two Royal Palaces that the Liechtenstein Princely Family owns in the Austrian capital.

Images snapped by guests saw the bride wear a Valentino Haute Couture gown and the Habsburg Fringe Tiara – a piece likely made for Infanta Maria Teresa of Portugal by Austrian jeweller Kochert in the 1870s.

The dress, a times was worn off the shoulders but boasted balloon sleeves and an A-line skirt.

The Princess completed the look with an elbow-length veil adorned with pretty white flowers, earrings that matched the jewelled crown, with her blonde hair placed into a a chic up do.

Some believe Princess Maria’s dress was similar to that of Diana, Princess of Wales.

Taking to the comments section on Instagram, one said: “Absolutely stunning. Bravo on the gorgeous gown with a Diana inspired sleeve It feels fresh and new again.”

“Dress looks like Princess Dianas on the sleeves,” another wrote while a third commented: “Her dress was obviously inspired by Diana’s.”

Following the ceremony, the happy couple waved to royal fans outside the church before being whisked on a horse and carriage.

As for what Princess Maria wore for the evening reception, she changed into a floor length white gown embroidered with jewels.

She had also changed her hairstyle and wore it down, tucked behind one ear in Hollywood style waves.

A bridal hair piece adorned one side of her head.

Emanuele opted for a black suit, white shirt and black bow tie.

While the wedding between two people is a happy occasion, the festivities undoubtedly had a sad tinge to them, as the Liechtenstein Princely Family is still mourning the death of Princess Marie, Prince Hans-Adam’s wife, who passed away on August 21.

But, guests including her maternal uncle, Grand Duke Henri, cousins Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and his wife, Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie and Prince Félix and his wife, Princess Claire of Luxembourg attended as well as her mother’s other royal siblings.

Other royals who travelled to Vienna include Belgium’s Prince Lorenz – King Philippe and Queen Mathilde had to pull out at the last minute due to their being in close contact with someone who had tested positive for COVID-19.

Jordan’s Prince Hassan and Princess Sarvath and the nephew of Prince Albert of Monaco was also in attendance, as well as Pierre Casiraghi with his wife, Beatrice Borromeo.
