On Tuesday, Rachel apologized to her former castmate Tate Donovan for being an ‘a**hole’ while he was directing a 2005 episode of The CW soap titled ‘The Game Plan.’

‘I know some of us kids were little a**holes, you know, and I think that, that speaks to that whole unaware, young, youthful, ignorant, like just idiots,’ Bilson said on episode five of her weekly Kast Media podcast Welcome to the OC, B****es.

‘And I hope I wasn’t as bad it’s come off. I hope I wasn’t because I really, you know, you get influenced, I’d say, by your surroundings.

‘I thought you were so wonderful and such a wonderful director and like amazing human and all of it. So if I ever added to any of the a**holeness, I want to apologize on record.’

Melinda marveled: ‘The entire crew loved Tate so much that they sang happy birthday to him every single day he was on set, a hundred people would just start [singing].’

‘That was a [DP] Jamie Barber thing. That was a very annoying thing,’ groaned Donovan, who’s romanced Sandra Bullock and Jennifer Aniston.

Rachel – who played brainy beauty Summer Roberts – recently told Monét X Change that she ‘would love to get’ Mischa Barton on her podcast: ‘I just had lost touch with her so long ago.’

The 35-year-old Hills alum – who played Marissa Cooper – just opened up about her blood-splattered exit from The O.C. after three seasons.

‘It started pretty early on because it had a lot to do with them adding Rachel [Bilson] in last minute as, after the first season, a series regular and evening out everybody’s pay — and sort of general bullying from some of the men on set that kind of felt really s****y,’ Mischa told E! News last week.

‘There were people on that set that were very mean to me. It wasn’t, like, the most ideal environment for a young, sensitive girl who’s also been thrust into stardom to have to put up with.’

Barton added: ‘I was getting offers from big films at the time and having to turn them down. I had always been supporting in The Sixth Sense and any of those things.

‘My dream was to be offered those lead roles, so that’s what happened. It just felt like it was the best thing for me and my health and just in terms of not really feeling protected by my cast and crew at that point.’
