Rafferty, who regularly updates fans on his music and acting exploits on Instagram, discussed battling trolls while detailing the downsides of social media.

He said: ‘There is a positive side to social media, where I can promote the band,’ he says.

‘But I get a lot of abuse because of my family and people commenting on my appearance. It has been part of my life always.

‘Luckily I am pretty thick-skinned and can take it, but I have seen people around me get eaten up by trolls and social media.’

Rafferty added that his parents, who divorced in 2003, always encouraged his creativity, whether that be through acting or music, and he and dad Jude would regularly recreate scenes together during their trips to the park.

He said: ‘Ever since I was young, I was always playing music, and my sister Iris would do a dance show for Mum.

‘Or me and my dad would go on an adventure in the park and play like we were making a film. I see it like we are still doing that, but on a bigger scale.’

The Twist star also shared his struggles with mental health during lockdown, saying he and the band made a conscious effort to keep in regular touch.

‘During lockdown we were all making a conscious effort to check in on each other. It’s so important,’ he said.

Revealing their plans to conquer the music scene, Rudy said: ‘Damon [Albarn] has obviously been a big influence on my life and he’s supportive in listening to our music, but he has not gone out and opened doors for us.

‘We have built this from the ground up. We haven’t got a label or a team, we do everything ourselves.’

Rafferty then added: ‘I would never ask my parents to give me money to put into the band. It’s like a four-way marriage – we are all equal, and we all find a tenner to pay to put together for the studio or find a friend with an amp we can borrow.

‘The hard work has been done by us in Camden for the past three years. We want to get on the road so people can hear it.’

The handsome chap, who claims to be currently single, recently starred in the Charles Dickens adaptation Twist alongside singer Rita Ora.

It comes after Rafferty also said that growing up with interet around his famous parents didn’t put him off also going into acting.

He even revealed that his parents, who also share children Iris and Rudy, encouraged his ‘love of performing’ by helping him make short films in an interview with the Radio Times.

Raff said: ‘I’ve never really been someone who lets things weigh me down. My mind was on school and making friends, and just growing up like everyone else.

‘I think from a very young age I’ve loved performing. In half-term I’d be making short films with my best mate and my parents would help out with those.’
