Renee Zellweger was completely unrecognizable when she filmed an outdoor scene for her upcoming true crume series The Thing About Pam on Wednesday.
The 52-year-old Oscar winner was spotted on set as she played the convicted killer Pam Hupp while wearing a fat suit and layers of makeup and facial prosthetics.

Renee looked completely different from her usual self thanks to the costuming and the prosthetics to help her play an older woman.
She was considerably larger thanks to the padded suit to make her look heavier.
She was seen filming the scene in a baby blue, white and lavender windbreaker, which she wore with black flared sweatpants.
The clothes hugged her extra padding, and she rounded out the costume with a pair of blue Asics trainers.

Although the acclaimed actress was wearing a ‘fat suit’ to get into character, the use of the prosthetics has been heavily criticized by body positivity activists, who claim they are primarily used to mock fat people.
The use of the padding has also been called out because it allows thin actors to play characters of any weight, while larger actors are denied roles that are considered traditionally attractive and are also shut out of playing fat characters.
Sarah Paulson recently came under fire for using a padded suit to play Linda Tripp in Impeachment: American Crime Story.
In an August interview with the Los Angeles Times, she expressed regrets about wearing the suit and added: ‘I think fatphobia is real. I think to pretend otherwise causes further harm.’
Courteney Cox and Neil Patrick Harris have also been previously criticized for using fat suits in flashbacks for their characters on Friends and How I Met Your Mother, respectively.

She also seemed to wear a prosthetic nose to make it appear wider and flatter.
During her scene on Wednesday, Zellwegger appeared to be setting up some Christmas decorations outside with the help of another actor.
The scene appeared to be somewhat comical, as she and the other male actor were seen carrying a Santa Claus mannequin by its head and feet, as if they were moving a dead body.
After they got the eerily lifelike Christmas decoration on its feet next to a giant candy cane, the Bridget Jones’ Diary star was seen kneeling down as she adjusted it.

It wasn’t clear if the two were actors or actual officers, though they were unmasked, whereas the rest of the crew wore masks in compliance with Covid-19 safety procedures.
Earlier this month, Zellweger was spotted filming a scene in which Hupp walked out of a convenience store while sipping on a large soda.
She appeared to have the same padded suit on, though her puffy jacket and jeans disguised it more than her relatively revealing costume from Wednesday.
During her down time, the actress was seen removing her windbreaker, exposing the long sleeves of the tan suit underneath.

In July of this year, the real-life Hupp pleaded not guilty to the murder of her friend Elizabeth ‘Betsy’ Faria, who was brutally stabbed 55 times in 2011.
Prosecutors claim that the convicted killer murderer Faria just days after she talked her in to naming Hupp as the beneficiary of her $150,000 life insurance policy.
Hupp was the last person seen with Faria when she drove her home after Faria got a chemotherapy treatment and visited her mother.
Faria’s husband Russ was gone for the day, but when he returned home that evening he found it covered in blood, and Betsy had been stabbed numerous times.
She had lacerations on her arms that went down to the bone, and a knife was lodged in her neck when he found her, while another blade was found near her body.
Russ Faria was convicted of her murder in 2013, only to have the conviction overturned as police turned their suspicions toward Hupp.
She later pleaded guilty to shooting to death a disabled man named Louis Gumpenberger in 2016 and is currently serving life in prison, though in July of this year she was also charged with the murder of Besty Faria.
