The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have both made a number of TV appearances in the last few months, which has seen the pair chat about life as senior members of the Royal Family. Apart from the Queen’s response to claims made in their first interview with Oprah Winfrey, the Palace has remained tight-lipped and refused to respond to Meghan and Harry’s damning claims – as is tradition. But a royal expert has claimed the Palace is poised to erupt and may start disputing the allegations made by the Sussexes.
Rebecca English, the Daily Mail’s Royal Editor, has warned that Meghan and Harry are “poking the bear” with their repeated comments slamming the Firm.
She also claims the Palace could reach a “tipping point” where they decide to publicly respond to the allegations.
The MailPlus host said: “The Palace have always gone with the never complain, never explain approach.
“Can we really expect that to carry on? Surely there will be a tipping point?”
The expert added: “Buckingham Palace genuinely don’t want to get drawn into a public slanging match with Harry and Meghan.
“That said, they are poking the bear a lot, and people are right to wonder whether there will be a tipping point.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made a number of incendiary claims about the Royal Family in their first TV interview with Oprah, which aired at the beginning of March.
The couple accused an unnamed family member of racism, alleged that Meghan received little support when she was feeling suicidal and claimed their son Archie was denied a royal title.
Since then, Harry has opened up on his upbringing and spoke of his “genetic pain and suffering”.
