Royal Family LIVE: Queen CAN'T strip Meghan and Harry of titles – punishment may backfire

The monarch is keenly aware that because Meghan and Harry “love playing the victim”, any further punishment could work in their favour. The Queen is worried about “looking vindictive”, royal expert Richard Eden revealed.

He said if they were punished in that way, the Sussexes would “dine out on that for the rest of their lives”.

The royal commentator also pointed out they would then be known as prince and princess – which is Harry’s birthright.

The Daily Mail’s Saturday diary editor told MailPlus’ Palace Confidential show: “When Harry and Meghan were told they could no longer use their HRH titles, it was made clear to them privately that stripping them of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles was something that could be done in the future, depending on what they did.

“The Queen doesn’t want to look vindictive or petty, but also, there is an element that Harry and Meghan love being the victims.

“So if they were stripped of their titles, they would dine out on that for the rest of their lives.

“They would still have the titles of prince and princess. Meghan might actually prefer to be Princess Meghan.

“That is Harry’s birthright, that can never be taken from him.

“The Palace will want to tread very carefully. It’s not something they would do in a hurry.”

Megxit saw Harry and Meghan – who are living in California after quitting royal duties – stop using their HRH styles but they continue to use their Sussex titles.

It comes as a recent YouGov poll found more than four in 10 Britons think they should lose their titles, with a further two in 10 believing the pair should keep them but stop using them.

Harry lashed out at the royals once again in his new documentary series on mental health with Oprah Winfrey – which came in the wake of his and Meghan’s tell-all TV interview.

Meghan Markle could give birth “any day now”, it has been claimed.

The Duchess of Sussex revealed during an interview with Oprah Winfrey back in March that the baby would come in the “summertime”.

However, according to Daily Beast’s Royalist newsletter, the due date could actually be by the end of the month.

It said: “The Royalist was always taught summer started in June, but there have also been rumours the baby was due sooner than that, so we think the answer is ‘any day now’.”

7.40am update: William confused at why Harry ‘keeps throwing shade at flesh and blood’

Prince William “can’t comprehend” how his brother keeps publically attacking the Royal Family, a royal source has claimed.

The insider told Us Weekly: “William feels that Harry should discuss his issues privately and can’t comprehend why he continues to shade his own flesh and blood on TV.

“Of course, mental health is a serious issue, but William can’t get his head around why Harry keeps throwing his family under the bus.”

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge helped Sikh Sanjog prepare chapatis for vulnerable families in Edinburgh yesterday.

While helping the group toss the dough, William cracked a joke about Kate’s love of spicy food.
