Ruthie Ann Miles, 38, makes rare appearance at the Tony Awards… three years after daughter, five, was killed by a driver and the star suffered a miscarriage

Ruthie Ann Miles has returned to the Tony Awards.

The actress, 38, went on stage to honor the cast of David Byrne’s American Utopia, a filmed musical featuring musicians from around the world as they sing songs from Byrne’s 10th studio album of the same name.

The star has been keeping a low profile since tragedy struck the All Rise star in 2018 when her five-year-old daughter, Abigail, was hit and killed by a driver in Brooklyn.

Miles was pregnant with another child at the time. She was injured and had a miscarriage. She intended to name the baby Sophia Rosemary.

The driver of the car also inured Miles’ friend Lauren and killed her 1-year-old, Joshua Lew. She later committed suicide.

A post to her Instagram written by her lawyer at the time asked that people give Ruthie and her husband, Jonathan Blumenstein, time to properly grieve

After the accident, Miles focused mainly on her career and did her best to stay out of the spotlight.

She earned a role in the main cast of the television show All Rise, which was canceled in May after 38 episodes.

She also took on a part in a West End production of The King and I as Lady Thiang, the same role that earned her a Tony Award years before.

The couple also didn’t give up on having children.

Miles revealed she was pregnant in March 2020 via an Instagram post where she thanked everyone who supported her and her husband after the accident.
