    The reboot of Ready, Steady, Cook, hosted by Rylan Clark-Neal, has been axed after just two series.

    The presenter, 32, has fronted the BBC cookery show since its return to screens in 2020, but it’s now been reported that the revamped series will not be returning for another series. 

    Despite having the popular TV star at the helm, it seems that the show hasn’t gone down as well with viewers as hoped it’s said that audience feedback was ‘not as good as expected.

    A source told The Sun: ‘Rylan was hugely passionate about Ready, Steady, Cook and he gave everything to the show.

    ‘It seemed to be popular with viewers but those behind the format said audience feedback hadn’t been as good as they expected.’

    The insider added that the news for a ‘huge blow’ for the former Celebrity Big Brother star as he was keen for the show to be a ‘success’.

    They added that the cancellation was ‘tough to process’ for the star considering the tough few months he’s had amid his marriage troubles.   

    A BBC spokesperson told MailOnline: ‘We sometimes have to make difficult decisions to grow new shows and after two brilliant series of Ready Steady Cook, we’re making space in the schedule for some exciting new titles that we’re sure viewers will enjoy. 

    ‘We are hugely grateful to Rylan and our team of chefs for making the return of the series so special.’

    Ready, Steady, Cook was originally hosted by Fern Britton, first airing in 1994.

    Ainsley Harriot then took over presenting duties in 2000, hosting until the show’s end in 2010.

    It comes after Rylan returned to BBC Radio 2 for the first time on Saturday since his 10-week break from the show after his marital split from husband Dan.  

    The presenter made the decision to step back from the airwaves in June after announcing his break up and said he was prioritising his mental heath.

    Speaking on the show, Rylan told his listeners: ‘It does feel good to be back and I am feeling better!’

    The popular host added: ‘It’s been a couple of months but we are back in business and we have a show for you today!’ 

    Following his welcome return to the airwaves he thanked listeners for their many messages of support. 

    Zoe Ball confirmed his return during her radio show on Wednesday morning, telling listeners: ‘I have some really wonderful news to share with you Radio 2 listeners.

    ‘Our dear friend and station buddy Rylan is gonna be back to his show on BBC Radio 2 on Saturday.

    ‘I know we’ve all missed him so much, so many of you wonderful listeners have reached out and sent him so much love. But he’s gonna be back to his show. Oh I’ve missed you Rylan. 3pm to 6pm on Saturday.’ 

    The star, who rose to fame on X Factor nine years ago, revealed in June that he and Dan had split after six years of marriage and made the decision to step back from work.  

    Taking to Instagram in July, he penned: ‘I just wanted to write a message to thank you all for the love and kindness you have shown us.

    ‘We are currently prioritising our mental health and looking after the ones around us we love the most. I am working towards getting back to the jobs I love in due course. Thank you for being patient with me X’.

    Rylan is reportedly set to make his television comeback on Strictly Come Dancing’s spin-off, It Takes Two.

    According to reports in The Sun, the presenter will return to the BBC2 show after co-presenting it alongside Zoe Ball for the past two years.

    With 50-year-old Zoe quitting It Takes Two back in May, Rylan will allegedly sit alongside Strictly professional Janette Manrara, 37, for the extra ballroom dancing installment which is starting soon. 

    A source revealed to the publication that Rylan has missed working and is ‘hopeful’ he will be back on fans’ screens soon.

    They said: ‘Rylan’s spent time away from the spotlight focusing on his wellbeing surrounded by friends and family.

    ‘It’s all looking positive and the team at It Takes Two always have a lot of fun filming. It’s a joyful show to work on.

    ‘Of course, everyone backstage wants what’s best for Rylan and aren’t putting pressure on him.’
