The Duke and Duchess of York divorced in 1996 but have remained close over the years. And Sarah does not appear to have ruled out the possibility that they could remarry in the future.

The Duchess told the Telegraph: “All I can say is that we’re happy with the way we are right now.”

Sarah added that they were “the most contented divorced couple in the world”.

She said: “We always say we are the most contented divorced couple in the world.

“We’re divorced to each other, not from each other.

“We are co-parents who support each other and believe that family is everything.

“I’m proud of the job we have done together in bringing up our children and sustaining a strong family unit.

“Our bywords are communication, compromise and compassion.”

Sarah and Andrew divorced 10 years after their 1986 wedding.

And they are set to welcome their second grandchild later this year with Beatrice expecting a baby with her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

Sarah, who has penned a number of children’s books, revealed her excitement at becoming a grandmother in an Instagram post in February.

The Duchess said: “As grandparents, the Duke and I are thrilled and blessed at the arrival of our grandson August Philip Hawke Brooksbank.

“He is a beautiful blessing and a bringer of such love and joy to all our family.

“I am so proud of Jack and Eugenie, they are and will be wonderful parents.”

Sarah and Andrew are no doubt keen for babysitting duties from time to time.

They live nearby to Eugenie and her husband, who are based at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s former Windsor home Frogmore Cottage.
