Dan Ewing broke down during an interrogation on Monday’s SAS Australia, as he discussed one of his deepest regrets involving his ex-wife Marni Little and her new husband David Robertshaw.

The actor, 36 – who shares custody of son Archie with Marni – recalled to the directing staff (DS) how he became ‘verbally aggressive’ towards David during an altercation in 2018 when he was dropping off his son.

Dan had expected to see Marni at the handover but David was there instead – which pushed him over the edge because he was already upset having learned Archie, seven, was calling his stepfather ‘dad’.

‘My little boy is six. When he was three, it became apparent to me that he was calling his stepfather dad and I was daddy,’ Dan told the DS.

‘That, for me, is a pain I would not wish on any father, any mother.

‘I want to be really clear here – his stepfather is a very good man. His mother is a terrific woman. I’m not disputing that. But to hear that – that was pretty bad.’

Dan then broke down in tears to the camera, as he said: ‘I wasn’t his dad. I was daddy. And that hurts, to have that title taken away.’

The former Home and Away star said that his hurt ‘manifested in an exchange when my son’s mother wasn’t available’.

He added: ‘I basically berated his stepfather, informed him politely – or not so politely – that he was not his real dad.’

‘I don’t see anything wrong with that,’ chief instructor Ant Middleton bluntly responded.

‘I did it in a way that was disrespectful,’ Dan replied.

‘Aggressively?’ DS Ollie Ollerton asked, with Dan responding: ‘Aggressively, verbally aggressively.’

‘I jumped out of the car and I started berating him. You’re not his father, f**k off, go get his mother, I’m not giving my son to you,’ Dan told the camera.

‘I let me ego and my emotions engage.’

Dan had opened up about the incident in TV Week on Monday.

‘Like an idiot, I berated Archie’s stepdad,’ Dan told TV Week of the regrettable incident. ‘It’s not fair when [David] is a great bloke who is so loving and beautiful towards my little boy.’

‘I’m so grateful to him. I think every parent can understand my point of view, but I didn’t handle it the right way and need to own that responsibility,’ he added.

Police were called to the scene and Dan was slapped with an apprehended violence order. While the AVO was dropped, the incident itself made headlines at the time.

Dan said the incident with David, with whom he is now on good terms, was a ‘hard learning curve’ but he now accepts he was in the wrong.

‘I’m so grateful for [Archie’s] mum and stepdad. We’re in a beautiful place,’ he added.

Marni went on to wed David in October 2018. Their son Charlie was born in 2019.

Marni announced earlier this year she was battling breast cancer. She has since finished her treatment and is awaiting her second surgery.

Dan, meanwhile, has been in a relationship with dancer Kat Risteska since 2016. They are relocating to Queensland to be closer to Archie.
