Pippen told the media outlet that, although he is still coping with his eldest child’s passing, he has learned how to keep himself going in the aftermath of his tragic loss.

‘I’m good. I still have my moments of ups and downs, but I’m good. I will continue to gain strength because today there is none,’ he noted.

The former Chicago Bulls team member did point out that, although he missed his son greatly, he was committed to moving forward.

‘There’s never enough time. But I’ve managed, and I’ll continue to heal,’ the former athlete expressed.

Pippen then spoke about spending his first Father’s Day without Antron and recalled that he still made time to speak to his son’s children despite not being at home.

‘He noted: It was tough. I was kind of on the road. I did a camp back in Arkansas, so I wasn’t really around my kids. I spent it with my siblings in Arkansas. I was on the phone with [his children].’

The former Olympian welcomed his eldest child in 1987, a year prior to marrying McCollum.

The two went on to dissolve their union in 1989, and the athlete eventually married his second wife, Larsa, whom he divorced earlier this year.

Antron’s mother penned a brief message that was shared on her Instagram account following her son’s passing, where she expressed her grief regarding the loss of her child.

‘You’ve left me with so many wonderful memories that I will treasure daily. Your transition has left a huge gap in my heart and the pain is quite unbearable. I will miss you tremendously and my love for you is for ever,’ she noted.

Pippen also made a post to his Instagram account following Antron’s death, where he described his son as ‘faithful, humble and resilient’ and ‘loved by all who knew him.’

The athlete also took to his Twitter and wrote that his son had a ‘kind heart and beautiful soul,’ while also asking his followers to keep McCollum in their prayers.

Pippen resolved to move on following his son’s passing and told the media outlet about the basketball prospects of his younger son, Scotty Jr, who recently declared for the upcoming 2021 NBA Draft.

The former Portland Trail Blazers team member spoke about his child’s dedication to his potential sports career and expressed that his son could always go back and hone his craft if he was not immediately selected by a team.

‘I think he’s done a lot of work on preparing himself for his journey. I don’t know how far it’s going to take him, but he’s still got three years of eligibility if he decides to go back and get some more experience and develop some more,’ he expressed.

Pippen went on to remark that he was excited to have seen his son progress as an athlete and that he was hopeful about his future.

‘It’s been a long journey, watching him grow up as a kid. I’m enjoying it for him. This is an opportunity for him to grow and see what the next level is like,’ he said.
