She’s busy filming new ITV drama No Return in Manchester in preparation for its release next year.

And putting on an animated display while on set, Sheridan Smith was seen joking around with crew members in between takes on Monday.

The actress, 40, covered up in a black quilted coat and shades when she wasn’t filming new scenes for the series and at one point was seen throwing her head back laughing while surrounded by crew.

Sheridan was in good spirits as she quenched her thirst with a cold drink while the cameras momentarily stopped rolling.

She was dressed in character and stepped out wearing a loose-fitted orange top and floral patterned maxi skirt, as production continued.

Theatre star Sheridan wore light blue mules and her short blonde hair was styled into a sleek and straight bob for scenes that took place at a bar in Manchester’s city centre.

In the four-part series, recently announced by ITV, Sheridan plays the role of a woman named Kathy, who jets off to Turkey with her husband (played by Quiz star Michael Jibson) and their 16-year-old son Noah (Louis Ashbourne Serkis – son of Andy Serkis), only to realise they are on the holiday from hell.

Filming began earlier this month, with Sheridan telling fans she is ‘so grateful’ to be starring in the drama penned by Danny Brocklehurst, who previously wrote Netflix series The Stranger.

No Return, which is due to hit screens in 2022, also stars Sherlock actress Sian Brooke, who plays Megan – the sister of Sheridan’s character Kathy.

Setting the scene in a press release, ITV has shared: ‘[The family’s] holiday is a chance to unwind and for Kathy and Martin to spend some much-needed time together.

‘Until unsuspecting Noah accepts a seemingly innocent invitation to a beach party from a fellow holidaymaker who is staying at the same hotel.

‘Suddenly Kathy and Martin’s world spectacularly falls apart when they are left desperately fighting for their son’s freedom against extremely challenging circumstances.

‘An arrest, an expensive and alien legal system, looming media coverage and resistance from fellow holidaymakers to come to their aid leaves the distraught parents fighting for Noah’s freedom when ironically he should be at school sitting his latest exams.’

Sheridan’s latest appearance on set comes after she was recently spotted still wearing her engagement ring, a month after her split from ex-fiancé Jamie Horn.

The diamond ring, reportedly worth £10,000, was sitting pretty on her finger as she took to her Instagram story to tell fans she was tuning into this year’s series of Love Island.

Sheridan confirmed her split from long-term partner Jamie just weeks ago – a year after they welcomed their son Billy together.

The couple shared a statement addressing their break up to The Sun, earlier this month, which read: ‘It is with great sadness that we have decided to have some time apart.’

‘We both remain completely committed to raising our beautiful boy Billy together. We ask that you respect our privacy during this difficult time. Thank you.’

A source told OK! magazine at the time: ‘Sheridan is struggling to get through the split. She put him out there for everyone to see and she really thought he was The One.’

The insider also claimed that splitting from Jamie brought back pain Sheridan felt after losing her father Colin, who died from cancer, in 2016.

‘She’s devastated. This has brought back all the feelings of missing her dad because he was her tower of strength,’ the source added.

‘In her heart she’s hoping they can make it right, but it doesn’t look like there’s any way back. They have a baby together and it’s tough. She’s heartbroken.’

Sheridan and Jamie first began dating in 2018 after meeting on Tinder and reportedly got engaged after just three months together.

Jamie is said to have proposed to Sheridan in May 2018 and the couple were living together in a rented property in North London.

Sheridan’s ex Jamie had appeared onscreen alongside her in a one-off documentary, titled Sheridan Smith: Becoming Mum, she filmed for ITV. It was released in 2020 and followed her pregnancy as a first time mum.
