Should I turn off the hot water when I’m not using it? Energy bill myth DEBUNKED

    [ad_1]

Some 40 percent of Brits surveyed by EnergyHelpline believe you should turn off the hot water when it’s not in use, but this is FALSE.

There are two schools of thought on this, and you can see where either side is coming from.

By leaving the hot water on, the water remains heated all day, and therefore you aren’t using energy to heat the water from cold.

By turning the hot water off, and only on when needed, the argument is that it takes more energy to heat the water from cold.
