    Sonequa Martin-Green discusses Season 4 of Star Trek: Discovery with the rest of her co-stars at New York Comic-Con


    The crew of the USS Discovery descended on the Big Apple to discuss Season 4 of Star TreK: Discovery at New York Comic-Con.

    Sonequa Martin-Green lead her cast onto the stage at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City for the show’s annual panel on Saturday.

    The cast and producers also unveiled the new trailer for Season 4, which debuts Thursday, November 18 on the Paramount Plus streaming service.

    Martin-Green took to the stage in an elegant, sleeveless hot pink dress with a black belt and matching hot pink pumps.

    The actress plays Captain Mike Burnham on the show, who, according to the season’s official description,  face, ‘a threat unlike any they’ve ever encountered.’

    ‘With Federation and non-Federation worlds alike feeling the impact, they must confront the unknown and work together to ensure a hopeful future for all,’ reads the season description.

    Her character was recently promoted to the Captain of the Discovery, which Martin-Green acknowledges is ‘huge’ for her character.

    ‘You saw this woman fall forward, grow, change, make mistakes but learn from them,’ Martin-Green began.

    ‘You saw her character mature, and that year alone (in Season 3) was essential because it really was for the first time a second to breathe, to stop, to ask myself, as Burnham, who am I actually? … And now I can be that person,’ she added.

    She added, ‘There’s a lot of discoveries, a lot of challenges that come with it, and I think every relationship is affected by it because all of a sudden, there’s this bit of distance that’s hard to explain but when you take on responsibility for an entire crew on paper, there automatically is a little bit of a stepping back that happens.’

    Her co-star Mary Wiseman, who plays Burnham’s good friend Tilly, also spoke about her character grows this season.

    ‘Tilly has begun to move up in leadership and is feeling more and more responsibility and a little bit more of the pressures that holds and that in combination with all the events of the third season … really forced her to reinvestigate herself and her motivations, so it spirals her off into this personal journey,’ Wiseman said.

    The trailer that debuted during the panel featured a mysterious ‘anomaly,’ which Anthony Rapp discussed in regards to his character Stamets.

    ‘Stamets is a scientist first and foremost and cares about the health of the bioforms in the universe and the galaxy, so he’s driven to stay up all night every night to solve this mystery,’ he said.

    Star Trek: Discovery debuts its fourth season Thursday, November 18 on the Paramount Plus streaming service.
