Sonia Kruger reveals she was drowning in debt, partying too hard and stuck in any unhappy marriage before she turned her life around at age 40 – and has ‘never been happier’
Sonia Kruger has revealed how she was ‘miserable’ before she turned her life around at the age of 40.
In a column for this week’s issue of Stellar Magazine, the Big Brother host says things were out of control when she decided to take hold and change her path.
The 56-year-old writes that she had ‘racked up debt’ and began to panic in her late 30s when she saw her friends settle down and grow up while she lagged behind.

‘While people around me were starting families and sensibly investing in real estate, I was searching for a hair brush and a Berocca to make myself feel slightly better about what had allegedly happened the night before,’ she wrote.
‘So I hastily remarried, got on the property ladder and put my heart into work,’ the TV star added.
Sonia married banker James Davies – but by 2008, after six years together, the couple divorced.

‘Unfortunately, my heart was not in my marriage and even though everything looked fine from the outside, inside I was miserable,’ Sonia wrote.
‘So in my early 40s, I completely blew up my life and started again. And I’ve never been happier,’ she said.
Sonia says that although she was a late bloomer, everything worked out in her favour.

‘I went on to have a great relationship, a beautiful daughter and a career where I completely lucked out. So who gives a rat’s about age?’
After the end of her marriage to James Davies in 2008, Sonia began dating television producer Craig McPherson.
The couple welcomed a daughter – Maggie, now six – in 2015 after undergoing IVF. They have denied secretly getting married.

After being pictured with a ring on her wedding finger while on holiday in January 2017, Sonia’s representative said: ‘I can confirm Sonia did not get married overseas.
‘She was wearing the ring on that finger as it simply didn’t fit properly on any others.’
Sonia currently hosts a whole score of shows including Big Brother VIP and Dancing With The Stars.
