Strictly Come Dancing star Graziano Di Prima has revealed that his father had to be removed from the front row of the show because he couldn’t stop crying.

The professional dancer, 27, who hails from a small town in Sicily, told how his dad was so proud to see his son dance on the BBC show that he couldn’t stop the tears from flowing, with producers having to change the seating arrangements as a result.

Speaking to The Mirror, Graziano, who said he was ‘buzzing’ for the new 2021 series to begin, explained that it was an emotional time for his family as they had travelled from their home in Sicily to watch him in action for the very first time.

He said: ‘I come from a small town and they came to see the show. Imagine that they were in the front row and they had to change my dad because he was crying all the way through!’

He continued: ‘They don’t talk English, so basically my dad was crying all the way through and they asked me, “we need to put him a bit back because it’s not possible that we are filming and your dad is crying”.’

The dancer, who saw the funny side of it all, added: ‘He was crying because he couldn’t believe it! My dad, we’ve got this connection because we talk about work and everything.’

As well as immense support from his parents, Graziano also told how his older brother Andrew had shown his support by being ‘understanding’ as their parents put a lot of time and effort into helping Graziano achieve his dancing dream.

While he awaits Strictly’s return, Graziano has been gracing the stage of Here Come The Boys at the London Palladium alongside fellow Strictly hunks Pasha Kovalev and Aljaž Škorjanec.

With show having recently reopened after lockdown, the choreographer said that it was ‘amazing’ to be back in front of a live audience again.

Graziano’s words come after he and his fiancée Giada Lini were forced to postponed their upcoming wedding due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The Strictly Come Dancing star and his partner originally planned to tie the knot last July before lockdown forced them to delay their plans.

Graziano told MailOnline the couple have now decided to delay their special day again until next year, calling it ‘a nightmare’.

Changes: 'They don’t talk English, so basically my dad was crying all the way through and they asked me, "we need to put him a bit back because it’s not possible that we are filming and your dad is crying"'

He said: ‘The wedding was supposed to be last year, the third of July. Then we postponed for this year.

‘Obviously, we still have the pandemic and here in Italy, we are struggling. They are closing everything. The whole nation is a red zone.

‘We decided to postpone because we want our wedding to be the best day that we have been dreaming about. If there is not the right opportunity to do as best as we can, why lose this day? We don’t want to rush.’

Graziano told how he and Giada, who recently celebrated five years together, are already like ‘husband and wife’ but said the fact they have to keep delaying their ceremony is ‘hurting’.

With Covid cases currently rising in Italy, the professional dancer admitted he is unsure when Giada’s family will be able to travel to Sicily, as they live in the north of the country.

He said: ‘This is the best choice we can make. She’s from the north and I’m from the south. We are going to do the wedding in Sicily because it’s going to be summer.

‘We don’t know if Giada’s family can come down to Sicily because for now, it’s the red zone. It’s going to be next year but we don’t know exactly when.’

Graziano, who joined Strictly in 2018, said the pair are going to have a large wedding as there are 120 attendees coming from just his extended family alone.
