Food recalls are issued when a product is unsafe for customers to use or it could cause harm to someone with allergies. Now, Tesco and Waitrose are recalling Lindt Lindor products due to undeclared ingredients.
Lindt & Sprüngli (UK) Ltd is recalling Lindt Lindor Salted Caramel Milk Chocolate Bars because of undeclared wheat, or gluten.
This means if eaten, the item could cause harm to those who are allergic to wheat or gluten.
Only a small number of the chocolate bars are affected, according to the Food Standards Agency (FSA), but it is difficult to tell which ones.
The FSA stated: “Lindt & Sprüngli (UK) Ltd is recalling Lindt Lindor Salted Caramel Milk Chocolate Bars because a small number of packs contain wheat (gluten) which is not mentioned on the label.

This notice explains why the product is being recalled and tells shoppers what to do if they have already bought it.
Lindt & Sprüngli (UK) Ltd said in a statement: “Nothing is more important to us than the safety of our customers.
“Therefore, we are recalling one batch of Lindt Lindor Salted Caramel 38g bars due to a packaging error which has resulted in a small number of packs being filled with an incorrect product (a strawberry cheesecake flavoured bar) containing wheat (gluten), which is not declared in the label.”
The chocolate brand added: “No other Lindt products are affected.”
The company went on to inform customers in what they should do, saying: “If you have bought Lindt Lindor Salted Caramel 38g bars as detailed above, and you have an allergy, intolerance, or sensitivity to wheat (gluten), do not eat it.
“Instead, check if you have bought the affected batch code/best before date of Lindt Lindor Salted Caramel 38g bars.
“You can do this by taking a picture of this notice or writing down the batch code/best before date for reference at home.”
Next, Lindt advised: “Return the product(s) to the store for a full refund (with or without a receipt).”
Tesco and Waitrose are not the only supermarkets actively recalling food products.
Asda is currently recalling its own brand Maple Flavour Pork Belly Slices because of undeclared ingredients.
The product contains wheat and soya which are not mentioned on the label.
This means it is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy intolerance to wheat or gluten, or an allergy to soya, according to the FSA.
In a statement on its website, the FSA said: “This product contains wheat (gluten) and soya making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten and/or an allergy to soya.”
Asda told customers: “If you have purchased Maple Flavour Pork Belly Slices with the above use by date, please bring it back to your nearest store where you will be given a full refund.
“You do not need your receipt.”
