Michelle Young was ignored during a group date and afterward told the men she felt ‘unseen’ on Tuesday’s episode of The Bachelorette on ABC.

The 28-year-old Minnesota teacher wasn’t approached during the group date as the guys enjoyed a giant slumber party with a sundae bar, pizza, cotton candy and giant teddy bears.

The men did facials and soaked their feet in spa machines and had fun playing with the teddy bears.

Michelle felt ignored and asked a producer, ‘Why the f*** am I here?’

‘Coming into today I was super excited and then this feeling of being unseen that excitement goes out the door,’ Michelle said in a confessional.

Show co-hosts Kaitlyn Bristowe and Tayshia Adams showed up and pulled a curtain back to reveal that the wrestling Bella twins, Nikki and Bri, were having a pillow fight with giant teddy bears and the sign behind them said ‘Teddy Bear Takedown.’

Michelle was not happy that instead of focusing on her, the men would be battling each other instead.

The Bella twins told them that they would be battling each other in teams with the teddy bears they just made. The losing team of the round would be going back to the hotel while the winners would be going to the dinner portion of the date.

Michelle sat down on a couch with Kaitlyn and Tayshia and looked mad. She said in a confessional that the day was hard because she didn’t prepare herself to feel not seen.

‘Everyone’s enjoying themselves so I feel like I am just going to have fun,’ Michelle said.

The date card read ‘Surrender to Love’ and some of the teddy bear fights got brutal. Chris had to battle Casey in a pair of underpants. Brandon and Olu went last and Olu said in a confessional that they ‘saved the best for last. It was like the Black Panther versus a mouse.’

The losing team grabbed their teddy bears and headed back home.

Streamers dropped down and the members of the winning team – Clayton, Olu, Leroy, Nayte, Romeo, and Casey – jumped up and down and congratulated each other while Michelle stood there alone.

‘After the game, no one came up to me, no one pulled me aside, I really try not to sweat the small stuff but not being seen is definitely something I’m realizing not being seen really hurts me,’ said Michelle in a confessional.

She told Kaitlyn the men weren’t trying to make small moments. She said she felt that she always felt that she was the one fighting for a relationship. Michelle said that growing up she was overlooked because she felt like she was the ‘token black girl.’ She said the group date brought back those feelings of not being seen

‘I was hoping it would go away but it is obviously affecting how I feel,’ said Michelle as she cried.

That night the winning team men toasted their victory. Michelle showed up for the evening date and told them that she felt that she was putting in the effort and she didn’t feel that it was being reciprocated. She reminded them that she had just shared with them the previous week her poem about growing up and not feeling seen.

‘I honestly just want a hello during the date,’ she said. She said her biggest fear was ending up with someone who didn’t really see her.

Olu started crying. He said Michelle had every right to feel that way and that this was her time. Michelle pulled Nayte aside and said she was really hurt that he didn’t pull her to try and connect.

‘I’ve always been the one giving more,’ Michelle said to Nayte.

Nayte told her he would make his feelings for her more obvious.

Romeo told the other men that they did get a little carried away focusing on the competition. Romeo apologized to Michelle. Clayton told her that he definitely sees her every time she walked into the room.

Olu confessed that what she said reminded him of his sisters. Michelle started crying listening to him talk.

‘I feel you , I hear you, everything you are doing now shows that you are a strong woman. I appreciate you. I really do,’ Olu said.

Michelle thanked him for showing emotion especially as a Black man because it helped her share her emotions. She thanked him for talking to her the way he did and said that it made her feel seen.

At the end of the night, Michelle gave the group date rose to Olu. She commended him for showing his vulnerability.

Michelle said in a confessional that she was happy that she spoke her mind and didn’t brush her feelings under the rug.

She was later shocked when she was told by Chris Sutton shortly before the rose ceremony that some of the men were acting like they already had it in the bag.

Specifically, Chris named Nayte to Michelle and said that Nayte told the other guys that he was confident that he would get picked for a one-on-one date at some point. Michelle was upset and said that no one should think they ‘had it in the bag.’

When Michelle walked down for the cocktail party before the final rose ceremony, Chris handed her a drink. He then stood in front of everyone and said he had something to say.

‘I think there are guys here that think they have it in the bag,’ Chris said. ‘I think that is bulls***. They are not showing the effort that you deserve. And I think you should give time to other people who are here for you, who are showing you the effort you deserve.’

‘Nobody has it in the bag, not even close,’ Michelle told the men.

Chris then immediately asked Michelle to talk to him. The other men were not happy. Once they were alone, Chris told Michelle that Nayte told the group that he knew he would get a one-on-one card at one point. Michelle was not happy to hear that Nayte thought he had it made.

When Chris returned to the cocktail party, Nayte told him that his behavior was weird. Casey also told him that he changed the party into a ‘negative situation.’ Romeo told him his actions just seemed like a desperate ploy to try to sabotage everything. Chris defended his actions and said he just cared about Michelle’s feelings.

Nayte went to talk to Michelle and she relayed to him what Chris said. Michelle told him ‘you don’t have anything in this bag’ and that she wasn’t just a massive prize.

Nayte said afterwards that he was really mad because his relationship with Michelle had been going well. He tapped Chris on the shoulder and said he wanted them to go for a talk. The two went to a balcony to hash things out. Nayte said he had to spend all his time with Michelle talking about what Chris said. Chris said he didn’t mean to single him out.

Heated talk: Nayte and Chris later had a heated conversation

‘Why is my name even in your mouth when you are talking to her?’ Nayte asked.

‘Do you deny that you said that?’ said Chris. ‘She probed me and asked me and I gave her the facts. Worry about yourself, dude. Don’t worry about me.

Chris then asked him if he was going to put his hands on him and then walked away. Nayte told him to not walk away from him and then called him a ‘f***ing dweeb.’

Chris said in a confessional that he didn’t plan to single Nayte out but that ‘she asked and I told.’

‘I came in on my white horse and I saved her from the castle that she was stuck in,’ he said.

Nayte said in a confessional that he hoped that as the group of guys dwindled down that there were ‘less and less dweebs in the house.’

When the episode started the men were still reeling from the last volatile rose ceremony where Jamie Skaar, 32, a biotech CEO from San Diego, was sent unceremoniously home. Michelle told Kaitlyn, 36, that she learned from her interaction with Jamie that if she saw red flags that she was going to act on them. She said she was looking for the guys to continue to be all in.

Tayshia, 31, then went to the men’s suite and told them that this week there were going to be two one-on-one dates and one group date. She handed them the first date card which was for Martin Gelbspan, 29, a personal trainer from Miami. The card said ‘Let’s get Love Back on Track.’

Martin said in a confessional that he was ‘super thrilled that she chose him.’

Before Martin arrived for his date, Michelle said that she knew that Jamie and Martin were very close and she questioned if she could still give him all of her trust.

‘If Martin makes my heart race we will find out today,’ said Michelle.

Their date was on a BMW performance race track and Michelle pulled up in BMW and said, ‘I hope you are ready to go fast today.’

She said she was trying to find her ‘ride and die’ person so she wanted to see if he could keep up. An instructor came over to show them how to drift their revved up BMW cars.

‘The date so far is going absolutely amazing,’ said Martin at the racetrack. ‘Sexy car, sexy lady we have a whole lot of sexy going on.’

When they were done, they kissed at the track and Michelle asked him if he was ready to cool off. They got into a small pool at the racetrack with the cars parked right behind them. He asked her what was going through her mind after yesterday. She told him yesterday was difficult.

Martin said he didn’t want to take anyone’s side but that he ‘still think ( Jamie ) is a hell of a man.’ Michelle seemed taken aback by his comments and didn’t know what to make of them.

‘I felt that my decision was potentially being questioned and that’s not a good feeling,’ said Michelle in a confessional. Michelle said there was a rose on the table and she needed trust in a partner.

At their dinner at night, Michelle asked about his comments. He said he sometimes wasn’t always good at communicating. He told her that his father also wasn’t good at communicating. He said growing up he would hide his emotions like crying. She said she also struggled with sharing her emotions.

‘We are both on the same journey,’ said Martin. ‘I know you are going to push me to keep going because I’m not going to stop.’

Michelle gave him the rose and said one of the biggest things she admired from him was that he did open up but also that he listened. She said when she spoke to him that there were changes that were applied so quickly.

They kissed and then walked into an observatory to look at the stars. Martin said that this was the coolest thing ever.

‘I think when I look up in the sky I am going to be thinking of Martin now,’ Michelle said in a confessional.

Rick Leach, 32, a medical sales rep. from Munroe Falls, Ohio did not get picked for the group date, which meant he would go on a one-on-one date with Michelle.

The next day Rick went on his one-on-one date with Michelle. He ran to her when he saw her. She told him they were ready to take their relationship to new heights. They got on the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway and took it to the top of San Jacinto Peak. They took a little hike when they got to the top.

They found a wish box and before leaving a wish of their own they read the wishes that other people had left. Rick told her that she encouraged him to be vulnerable and that things for him had never been this easy.

‘I like who you are,’ said Michelle.

At dinner, Rick told her that his father was there for him at times, but there were other times where he wasn’t. She told him how one year, two weeks before Christmas, his parents went out shopping, but his father left his phone on the counter. He said he picked up his father’s phone and saw a text message from a woman. He said he told his mother about it. He said his parents later split and he blamed himself. Rick said that in the last years of his father’s life he was very depressed. He said up until the day his dad died that he felt that he blamed him because he ‘blew the whistle.’

    ‘It hurts,’ said Rick.

‘I can’t even imagine,” Michelle said.

Rick said that she made it easier for him today. Michelle told him that his ‘wounds and scars’ were what helped make him an amazing person. He told her that he couldn’t rule out that he was falling in love with her. He said he was just going to enjoy their moments together.

‘I was not ready for that,’ Michelle said before they kissed. She gave him the rose at the end of the date. They then walked into a room to dance while singer Andy Grammer played them his new song Lease On Life.

Chris said in a confessional before the rose ceremony that all the men hated him. Olu said in a confessional that ‘his a** is going home tonight.’
