Tom Holland found out he was cast as Spider-Man in 2015 through the press: 'I broke my computer'

Tom Holland revealed on Wednesday that he broke his laptop after discovering, through the press, that he had landed the role of Spider-Man in 2015.

‘I flipped it up in the air. It fell off my bed,’ the 24-year-old actor told fellow MCU Londoner Daniel Kaluuya during a virtual chat for Variety’s Actors on Actors.

‘My dog went nuts. I ran downstairs. I was telling my family, “I got the part! I got the part!”‘

This, after Tom endured six auditions and two screen tests over seven months to finally score the acrobatic part of Peter Parker.

Holland is currently hard at work in Atlanta filming his third Spider-Man standalone film, which hits US theaters December 17.

Director Jon Watts’ next installment of the Spidey franchise also stars Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, Jamie Foxx, Alfred Molina, and Benedict Cumberbatch.

The 2019 sequel Far from Home amassed an eye-popping $1.132B at the global box office and holds a certified fresh 91% critic approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

‘For me personally, that’s the most I’ve ever felt like Spider-Man,’ Tom said in the teaser.

Tom continued: 'And then when I read the script for the first time, I was like, "There's no way I can make this film. I'll fall apart. I can't hold onto a character like this for so long!" It was all about preparation, and really setting out the character beats and figuring out how I was going to get from A to B in each section'
