    Bachelor star turned influencer Abbie Chatfield was forced to defend herself this week, after eagle-eyed followers noticed she got her hair done during Sydney’s strict covid-19 lockdown.

    The 25-year-old hit back at fans who commented on her latest Instagram video, which was posted on the social media platform on Thursday. 

    The I’m a Celebrity star said she got her roots done ‘as a requirement for upcoming work’ on television.

    In the clip, Abbie showed off her freshly-dyed hair as she plugged Extra Gum as part of a paid advertisement. 

    ‘How’d you get your hair dyed in lockdown?’ one follower remarked. 

    Abbie said she had all the correct permits to get her roots attended to.

    ‘Legally, in a Covid-safe environment, with the correct permits, as a requirement for upcoming work,’ she began. 

    ‘I’m very lucky that it got done but I didn’t seek it out or request it, it’s a part of a job that I have coming up.’

    Abbie went on, saying that ‘everyone in TV has had their hair done, no one has requested it’.

    Abbie said she didn’t post about getting her hair done as she ‘didn’t want to rub it in anyone’s face,’ before reminding followers that ‘media is still being produced’.

    Another follower chimed in and slammed Abbie, saying:'Why don't you just admit the hypocrisy instead of antagonising every person who calls you out ever, for legitimate reasons?'

    Abbie hit back, saying what she did wasn’t ‘hypocritical’ and she ‘followed the rules’.

    Another fan scolded Abbie, saying she was disappointed by the move.

    Abbie reminded fans again that she ‘hasn’t broken any rules’ and added: ‘It isn’t lack of solidarity it’s my employment that pays my rent.’

    The major TV networks, Seven, Nine and Ten, recently all confirmed to The Courier Mail that they have exemptions for TV talent for hair and makeup services. 

    Abbie rose to fame on The Bachelor with Matt Agnew back in 2019 and has also completed a stint on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!
