Action needed to 'accelerate' electric car production to make upfront costs 'cheaper'

    Fiona Howarth, CEO of Octopus Electric Vehicles has warned car firms “aren’t supplying enough” cheap electric cars to drivers with more needed to be done to address the issues. Ms Howarth said firms needed more urgency” to make the switch to electric vehicles.

    They said experts had already seen upfront electric car costs drop in recent months.

    As batteries become cheaper and the production is scaled up the Government expects cars to become even cheaper.

    As part of their report, the Government is consulting on the possible introduction of a zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) mandate

    This will see manufacturers hit with sales percentage targets that must be met by firms.
