Aldi is known for its affordably priced food items and has been consistently found to be one of the cheapest supermarkets in the UK. In the latest research, the discount retailer was found to be cheaper than the Big Four supermarkets by a huge amount.
Its latest win means Aldi has maintained an unbeaten record since it was first included as a guest retailer in the Grocer 33 back in 2014.
The analysis by The Grocer shows the Big Four supermarkets, including Sainsbury’s, Asda, Morrisons and Tesco are £9.10 more expensive than Aldi on a basket filled with 33 everyday items.
It’s most expensive rival, Waitrose, came in at a whopping £23.76, which was 55 percent pricier than Aldi.
It also found that shoppers are £8.41 worse off shopping at Tesco and £6.22 out of pocket shopping at its closest rival, Asda.

The news comes after Aldi’s recognition as the cheapest supermarket in the UK by consumer group Which?.
Which? compared 20 grocery and household essentials and found Aldi came in the cheapest at just £22.64.
The same basket of items would’ve cost just under 15 percent more at Sainsbury’s and just over 15 percent more at Tesco.
At the other end of the spectrum was Waitrose where the same amount of items would’ve cost £8.25 more than at Aldi.
Groceries with some of the largest price differences included a popular tea brand, where there was a £1.22 difference between Aldi and Waitrose, and own-label large free-range eggs, which had a difference of £1.15.
How did bigger shopping lists compare?
Asda was the cheapest of the traditional supermarkets, at £152.67 for a trolley packed with 82 items, the original 20, plus 62 more.
Aldi and Lidl were not included in the bigger shop analysis due to some branded goods not being stocked in the supermarkets.
Asda came in at £20.57 cheaper than Waitrose, where the trolley would’ve set customers back £173.24.
Sainsbury’s was the second cheapest supermarket at £159.54, followed by Morrisons at £163.96 and Tesco at £166.88.
In other Aldi news, the supermarket recently launched their brand new McDonald’s inspired range with food items including chicken nuggets and hash browns.
Aldi’s 12 fresh chicken nugget box is accompanied by two tasty dips including tangy sweet chilli and BBQ, all served in a cardboard box.
The box will cost customers £1.69 for 300g, compared to McDonald’s nine chicken nuggets (150g) for £3.29.
Also being added to the range is Aldi’s Snacksters Big Stack Burger, costing £1.49.
The supermarket said the burger consists of two tasty lean beef burgers, fresh crispy lettuce and creamy, flavoursome cheese.
