Matteo Berrettini was starting to provide a fightback against Novak Djokovic during their quarter-final clash at the French Open when Andy Murray took to Twitter to bet his house on the world No 1 seeing the match out.
Murray’s wife Kim and their four children would not be happy if they were turfed out of their £5million Surrey mansion.
But the Scot was willing to put it all on the line in support of his Serbian friend – well, at least metaphorically.
“I’d put my house on @DjokerNole winning this match,” Murray tweeted after Berrettini won a tense third-set tie-break.
Djokovic had stormed into a two-set lead dropping just five games.
But the Italian world No 9 began to find his feet in the third set and did not drop serve as they headed to a tiebreak.
Berrettini edged the shoot-out to take the match to a fourth set and Murray weighed in on the match.
