Arsenal go back in for Kieran Trippier but Thomas Partey could prevent transfer

Arsenal have reportedly reignited their interest in England right-back Kieran Trippier. Arsenal have been in the market for a right-back throughout the summer and now have just a week before the window shuts. Trippier is keen on a return to the Premier League after spending two seasons at Atletico Madrid.

Arsenal have already used two different right-backs this season.

Calum Chambers started the opening day loss to Brentford and Cedric Soares came into the starting XI for the 2-0 home defeat to Chelsea.

But neither have covered themselves in glory.

Hector Bellerin wants to leave the Gunners and Ainsley Maitland-Niles no longer wants to play in that position.

That has led to Mikel Arteta exploring right-backs he could sign and Trippier appears to be top of his list.

“We are missing nine players – and the majority of them are big senior players. It’s what we have.

“We put out there a team that will probably be unprecedented in the history of this football club.

“But credit to the boys, how they are trying, the passion they are trying to bring to the team.

“They are playing with a lot of courage in this situation, which is tough.

“They are trying their best – and at the moment it’s not enough to win football matches.”
