Luxembourg’s royals were seen out on an engagement ahead of the country’s national day. The royal baby, 1, stole fans’ hearts in Esch-sur-Alzette as he smiled and played with a plush deer.

His outfit consisted of white dungarees and navy trainers, complementing his mother’s red, white and navy dress.

Prince Charles was born on May 10 last year and is second in line of succession to the Luxembourg throne.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Charles was not able to meet his family until a month after his birth.

Luxembourg’s royal family shared a series of snaps on social media to immortalise the heartwarming moment the Duke was finally able to meet his grandson.

Some of the photographs show Charles sleeping on his mother’s arms at Fischbah castle.

The Instagram caption read: “It is with great pleasure that Prince Guillaume and Princess Stéphanie reveal new pictures of their son Charles.”

The first time the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess saw Prince Charles it was via a video call.

Speaking of the birth of his son in May, Prince Guillaume said it was “probably the most incredible day that we will have in our life”.
