    Beaming Sheridan Smith celebrates turning ’40 years young’ with son Billy, 13 months, and VERY elaborate balloon decorations

    She is set to take a leading role in The Railway Children. 

    Yet Sheridan Smith took time away from work on Friday to celebrate her milestone 40th birthday with her 13-month-old son Billy. 

    Sharing a snap showing her surrounded by an elaborate balloon display, she added a caption reading: ‘Thank you all so so much for your beautiful birthday messages! Means the world Xx #40yearsyoung’.

    Sheridan looked stunning in a Chanel-inspired monochrome, longline cardigan with statement gold buttons and paired with tight jeans. 

    She was doting on Billy in the snap however it was her decorations that stole the show as a vast 40 was styled out of gold balloons and surrounded by even more.  

    Her big day comes shortly after she revealed that she and her fiancé Jamie Horn were ‘in a daze’ following the birth of their boy as they struggled with a lack of sleep.

    Sheridan also told how a shortage of outside help due to the restrictions of the pandemic made things slightly harder as new parents, as she joked that the pair were ‘walking around like zombies.’

    Speaking to the i newspaper about parenthood, she said: ‘It’s surreal. You’re kind of walking around in a bit of a daze…

    ‘If it hadn’t been a pandemic we would have had more people to rely on so we could both go and get some rest; but thank goodness we had each other.’

    She went on to saw that her insurance broker beau Jamie, 31, ‘took a lot of time’ to care for their little one too, meaning she got to sleep in between breastfeeding.

    But she noted that despite their teamwork, they were still extremely tired, stating: ‘We were walking around like zombies and we didn’t really know what day it was. When there’s this bundle of joy, though, the good times make up for the bad.’

    She added that at the time, it was just the three of them together and they didn’t have others to ‘rely on’, so they simply ‘got on with it’. 

    The Two Pints Of Lager favourite, who has recently started filming for The Railway Children remake, also told how partner Jamie has taken over night duties so that she can head back to work.

    Sheridan, who has collaborated with NOW and The Sleep Charity in which she narrates bedtimes stories for adults, said: ‘I’ve been working, so Billy’s dad does the nights at the minute. When I was gradually going back to work I was finding that not sleeping and then heading into work was hard.’

    The star added that she’s been ‘lucky’ and has been attempting to get a ‘good night’s sleep’ while caring for her 13-month-old boy.

    Taking to Instagram to share the special day with her followers, the actress wrote: ‘My precious Billy’s 1st Birthday…Becoming a mother has been the most rewarding job in the world.’ 

    She continued: ‘In between a busy filming schedule, we managed to celebrate my son’s special day with some family and what a day it was!’
