Beauty and the Geek's Lachlan Mansell reveals plans to kickstart his dating life on Instagram

He was crowned the winner of Beauty and the Geek alongside on-screen partner Kiera Johnstone during Tuesday’s emotional finale.

And while he didn’t find romance on the show, Lachlan Mansell has since revealed that he’s more than ready to start dating in the real world – once Sydney gets out of its strict lockdown.

The 32-year-old, who owns his own motorsports PR agency, told Daily Mail Australia that while he prefers meeting someone ‘face to face’, he hasn’t ruled out sparking up a romance if someone was to slide into his Instagram DMs.

‘I’m not on any dating apps… I am on Instagram though, and my followers have gone up [since the show],’ he said. 

‘I think moving forward that will be a way of me communicating with people. Whether or not I connect with anyone while were in lockdown… maybe that might open up an opportunity.’

Lachlan has certainly built up quite the fan base on Instagram already, raking in over 21,000 followers since appearing on the show.

‘Because we’re in lockdown, it’s the worst possible time. Right now I would have loved to have been going out and getting on dates, and would have been really confident,’ he said. 

‘But, I have always been a bit old-fashioned in that I like to meet people in person, spend time with them and get to know them.’

When it comes to his ideal woman, Lachlan said he wanted someone ‘confident and outgoing’ who could ‘bring me out of my shell’.

‘I like girls who I can have an intelligent conversation with as well, who are interested in stuff and passionate about things,’ he added.

The business owner also hopes things will get easier with dating after taking home half of the $100,00 prize money, as he hopes to ‘prioritise his social life’ and find a way so that his job won’t be as ‘heavily reliant’ on himself.

‘Whether that means I start to employ people or put a process in place where I can get a bit of my social life back, I think that’ll be something that I’ll be aiming towards.’ he said.
