Coronation Street fans were left in tears on Monday night as they finally learned the truth about Seb Franklin and Nina Lucas’ fate when they were brutally attacked in a hate crime incident.
Nina (Mollie Gallagher) was targeted over her Victorian gothic appearance in scenes that aired earlier this year, and the real identity of Seb’s attack was finally revealed in flashback scenes.
After weeks of speculation around who have delivered the fatal blow that caused Seb’s death, it was finally confirmed that Corey Brent (Maximus Evans) was the man responsible.

It was already known that Kelly Neelan (Millie Gibson) was present at the time of the attack and that she had tormented the couple, but the flashback scenes revealed she did not cause Seb’s death.
Distressing scenes in the flashback episode showed Seb being beaten and kicked, with him laying unconscious on the floor and covered in blood.
Kelly attempted to stop Corey from beating Seb and screamed as she tried to pull him away.

But Corey pushed Kelly off him as he continued to kick Seb while he was on the ground.
Seb’s girlfriend Nina fled over a wall but was targeted by Eli (Liam Scholes) and another teen who were seen stamping on her.
The couple were left to die with their attackers running from the scene without calling for help.

Dramatic plot: It was already know that Nina survived the attack and that Seb died in hospital, but Nina could not remember what happened during the incident
After gaining consciousness, Seb called for an ambulance as he told Nina she would be alright while she lay unconscious in front of him.
Struggling to breathe, he called the emergency services before dropping the phone on the ground after dragging himself to Nina’s side.
It was already known that Nina survived the attack and that Seb died in hospital, but Nina could not remember what happened during the incident.

Last attempt: Seb regained consciousness and called an ambulance but later died in hospital while Nina recovered and has gradually remembered moments of the incident
As she recovered, Nina began to remember moments from the horrendous night, with the flashback on Monday night filling in the gaps for viewers.
Taking to Twitter after watching the soap, fans expressed their sadness at watching the scenes while praising the performances of the cast members.
One viewer wrote: ‘That’s the most harrowing episodes of Corrie I’ve seen in a very long time. Very hard 2 watch, but I did, because I wanted 2 know what happened. Great acting by all, especially Nina & Seb. My heart was hurting so much 4 them both. Hopefully now, Corey will be locked up for good.’

While another audience member tweeted: ‘Amazing performance tonight. I’ve been where Seb was so those kicks felt all too real. Corey has to be sent down! But money will get him off I suspect. Harrowing and hard to watch but so good.’

Fans will have to wait and see whether the jury will find Corey or Kelly guilty of Seb’s murder, now Nina has finally remember the real identity of her boyfriend’s attacker.
