Courtney Stubbs is saved from elimination on Love Island Australia – despite being left single after one of the reality show’s famous recouplings

Courtney Stubbs was kept safe from elimination on Thursday’s episode of Love Island Australia.

The 23-year-old nursing student remained on the show, despite being left single after an emotional recoupling.

While her single status would have normally led to her elimination from the series, host Sophie Monk dropped a bombshell when she revealed she’d be staying.

Sophie, 41, explained that Courtney was safe, with the show’s viewers voting her the Islander they ‘most want to find love in the villa’.

The episode ended on a cliffhanger, with Sophie telling the Islanders that while there was currently 13 of them, only 12 would remain.

The recoupling saw Emily Ward pick Mitch Hibberd, Taku Chimwaza pick Tina Provis, and Aaron Waters pick Jess Velkovski.

Meanwhile, Chris Graudins picked Rachael Evren, while Ryan Reid picked Lexy Thornberry, leaving Courtney on the outs.

According to her Love Island bio on 9Now, Courtney has been single for four years, and is looking for a committed family man with a sense of humour.

‘I’m not tooting my own horn, but guys come up to me and I can find guys. But the guys that try and date me, they aren’t really up to my standards,’ she said.

Elsewhere in the episode, Rachael, 21, confided in Tina, 25, about her insecurities and admitted she needed to do a lot of work on herself.

Meanwhile, Lexy, 20, told the other girls she was falling for Ryan, 25, after spending the night with him in The Hideaway.

The ‘Truth Bike’ also made an appearance, with the Islanders revealing all, while the love triangle between Mitch, 25, Emily, 24, and Tina was pulled into focus.

Love Island Australia airs Monday at 8.45pm on Channel Nine
