The European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) has confirmed the earthquake in the popular holiday hotspot. Some of those caught up in the quake have taken to social media to share their experiences.

One Twitter user said: “I’m shaking so bad this was the biggest and scariest earthquake I’ve ever experienced.”
