Dannii Minogue reveals what she and sister Kylie plan to do when she moves back to Australia

Kylie Minogue confirmed reports that she is moving back to her native Australia last month, after more than 30 years living in Britain.

And on Sunday, her doting sister Dannii, 50, revealed what exciting things the sisters have planned for when she relocates back Down Under permanently.

Speaking on Samantha Armytage’s podcast Something To Talk About, The Masked Singer star revealed she wants the pair to travel Australia together, spend time with Dannii’s son Ethan, 10, and catch up with late music guru Michael Gudinski’s family.

‘It’s just her really getting to know the nephews, we really want to take some family holidays – all of those years, we’ve missed out on weddings, birthdays, and I think there’s just a lot to catch up on,’ she said. 

‘I’d love to do some good trips with her in Australia, and she’d be looking forward to doing things that are different to London. [Also] connecting with the Gudinski family – we’ve spent so many moments together back stage.’

Michael Gudinksi was the man credited with launching Kylie’s incredible singing career. 

The music executive, who was widely regarded as the ‘father of the Australian music industry’, died suddenly in his sleep on March 2, at the age of 68. 

‘I think the whole Covid situation has made a lot of family dynamics change – you either want to get so far away from your family, or you want to be closer,’ Dannii continued. 

‘I’d love to do some good trips with her in Australia, and she’d be looking forward to doing things that are different to London. [Also] connecting with the Gudinski family – we’ve spent so many moments together back stage,’ Dannii said

‘At the moment, she’s deciding to come back. But she might just go – “Oh my God, I’ve had enough of this” – we’ll see!’

Dannii also added that her entire family were shocked by the nation’s excited reaction upon hearing the news of Kylie’s return.

‘It’s weird for us, because she’s been here for most of the year so for us she’s already moved back,’ she added. It just came up in a conversation so it became public, but it wasn’t like, “Now we’re going to a press release on this!”

‘We were all a bit shocked by the reaction from it, but then it was really nice. It felt like Melbourne was excited and Australia was excited and that she would be so welcomed home.’

Kylie, 53, has already taken steps to formalise her move, having changed the service address for her four main businesses to an address in Hawthorn, an inner suburb of Melbourne.

Business documents have also been recently updated so her residence as director is now listed as Australia, not England. 

Kylie told friends she wanted to live closer to her family, including her parents Carol and Ron, siblings Brendan and Dannii and nephew Ethan.

Her boyfriend, magazine executive Paul Solomons, won’t be joining her in Australia, but they intend to continue a long-distance relationship, according to The Sun.

Kylie confirmed reports she is moving back to Australia in October.

When asked about rumours she was returning to her home country permanently, Kylie told BBC Radio 2: ‘It is true, I will be basing myself in Australia.

‘I can’t believe the reaction it’s had. I’ve had friends call me.’

‘I spent a lot of time with my family this year in Australia and it felt really good… I’ve been talking about that for a while,’ she added.

Kylie reassured Brits she ‘won’t be a stranger’ and will still visit regularly.

‘Of course I’ve lived here for 30 years. I’m always going to be back,’ she said.
